Following in the footsteps of John Zorn’s whimsical and beautiful “The Gift” is the soon to be released album “The Dreamers“. Due out March 31 2008, the album features Trevor Dunn on bass along with a host of other familiar faces:
Joey Baron: Drums
Trevor Dunn: Bass
Marc Ribot: Guitars
Jamie Saft: Keyboards
Kenny Wollesen: Vibes
John Zorn: Alto Sax
Cyro Baptista: Percussion
From the Tzadik site:
“Continuing in the tradition of his popular album The Gift, Zorn again combines a lifetime of musical passions—world music, movie soundtracks, jazz, minimalism, exotica, funk, surf rock and more—to create a vibrant and multifaceted album of instrumental fairy tales. Masterfully performed by the all-star players from Electric Masada, The Dreamers is a project of breathtaking variety and will attract listeners of all backgrounds and ages. Bathed in a lush package created by the acclaimed artist and exclusive Tzadik graphic designer Chippy, and accompanied by a sheet of collectable character stickers, The Dreamersis one of Zorn’s most beautiful and appealing projects. Seductive lyricism, hypnotic grooves, catchy hooks and romantic moods from this genre-bashing master of surprise.”

Definitely a gig on but not sure of the lineup. Possibly Six Litanies in Paris on the 23rd of June, 2008.John Zorn’s Six Litanies For Heliogabalus Lineup:
Fred Frith guitar
John Zorn saxophone
Bill Laswell bass
Terry Bozio drums
special guest: Mike Patton voice
Gig info on Last.fm with conflicting lineup
EDIT – Thanks to a commenter we have clarification:
“No, actually, Six Litanies was programmed and announced (with Dunn, Baron,Mori, Patton, Saft and a choir), but was cancelled last week to be replaced with a two-part show: Frith/Zorn then Painkiller (with Bozzio on drums and Patton as guest-star)”

So the A Perfect Place DVD/Sountrack combo is out. If you have seen the movie please post your thoughts/reviews in comments!
thanks

There have been more delays and manufacturing issues with Isis’s 1st 10th anniversary single, Holy Tears, lifted from there 2006 album, In the Absence of Truth
, resulting in some people ending up with defective releases. It appears that some people have recieved the single prematurely with the Holy Tears video missing.
Official statement:
” Many of you have been inquiring about the “Holy Tears” single – Due to unforseen manufacturing mishaps the release of the “Holy Tears” single is once again being postponed… however it will be available very very soon. If you somehow managed to get one of the defects, then don’t worry the real thing will be available shortly. We will keep you posted.
The contents of the single should be (and will be):
1. Holy Tears (Album Version)
2. Not In Rivers, But In Drops (Melvins / Lustmord remix)
3. Holy Tears (Live from Continental Airlines Arena 10.06)
4. Holy Tears Video (Directed by Dominic Hailstone) “
Still no release date for the 2nd single to be released, Not in Rivers But In Drops, and they have recently announced that their 10th anniversary limited edition (600) vinyl box set has completely sold out.

Melb-erican multi-instrumentalist and ex-Bungle saxophonist Bär McKinnon is currently putting together his band Umläut‘s debut release with a special guest vocalist to appear on one track. Mike Patton is currently laying down vocals on the track Atlas Face (also known as “Australia Day”). There is still no known release date for the album as yet but it looks like it will appear sometime in the second half of 2008.
Rumour has it that there may be the possibility of an Oz East Coast mini tour later in the year, which would be great considering Bär has rarely ventured far from his home base of Melbourne since his tour of oz a few years back (not counting the SC3 tour
