this is blatantly nicked from the FNM fan blog here http://www.faithnomoreblog.com/#!/
“In a recent interview with mxdwn.com Eric San aka Kid Koala has given news of a new Lovage album, and also The Slew album:
We’ve heard rumors of a new Lovage album in the works. Is there any truth to that?
There is. The beats are done and my turntables are done, but that’s about it at this point. Mike [Patton] is still writing, hasn’t recorded anything yet. I couldn’t put an exact date on it. Sometimes it goes quickly, but if he’s busy sometimes it doesn’t. But soon, hopefully. I always thought it would be cool to drop it on Valentines Day.
Then you better get moving on it!
(Laughs) Yeah, we only have a few months. I should call him now, actually!
What about The Slew? New album in the works?
Yes also, we’re recording it. Mike is recording vocals. Right now we’re setting up the skeletons for the tracks. We’re going through it all and finding bits that we dig and cutting it to vinyl, reassembling so it has turntable flavor but with that heavy rock thing going on as well. It’s slated for next year.”
Officially titled ‘Music From The Film and Inspired By the Book The Solitude of Prime Numbers (La Solitudine Dei Numeri Primi)’ the music was recorded by Mike Patton for the 2010 movie ‘The Solitude of Prime Numbers’ which was based on Paolo Giordano’s book from 2008.
The release date is 1-11-11 via Ipecac Recordings. Each track sequentially numbered with the first 16 prime numbers:
2. Twin Primes
3. Identity Matrix
5. Method of Infinite Descent
7. Contrapositive
11. Cicatrix
13. Abscissa
17. Isolated Primes
19. Radius of Convergence
23. Separatrix
29. The Snow Angel
31. Apnoea
37. Supersingular Primes
41. Quadratix
43. Calculus of Finite Differences
47. Zeroth
53. Weight of Consequences
The much loved and very rare Lovage (music to make love to your old lady by) album featuring the talents of Jennifer Charles, Dan the Automator, Mike Patton and Kid Koala has just been reissued! The re-release is a two disc set with the instrumental version of the album included as the 2nd disc.
This is great news for fans who have found it exceedingly difficult to get their own copy of the album since the demise of the Automator’s 75Ark, and copies are seen on eBay for exorbitant amounts.
This also comes on the back of confirmation from Kid Koala in an interview with CoS last year that the much anticipated follow up has been recorded and is just waiting on vocals from Mike and Jennifer.
Mike Patton returns to the gaming arena with the voicing of Jackie Estacado’s “inner demon”, The Darkness in the games imminent follow up, aptly titled “The Darkness II”.
“It feels really good to be the bad guy, and The Darkness is as bad as it gets”
At last, it’s here! Ladies and gentlemen you’ve been asking for it, and here we have it! Presented to you by stubbadub, and our fellow FNM lovin’ sites FNM2.0 and the FNM FB French Community, the Faith No More Fan Interview, with all questions asked coming directly from YOU, the fans.
On behalf on everyone who worked to make this project a reality, I’d like to say thank you. To all the fans who submitted questions, we really appreciate the interest and support and I hope the lucky few of you whose answers were chosen are happy with the answers. Sorry we couldn’t ask more! But keep an eye on Consequence of Sound for more from Bill Gould.
So, on that note, here we have it, made by fans for fans: The Faith No More Fan Interview, 2010.
Nice big article on Mike over at alarmpress with a few updates on his current and future plans:
“Between the second Mondo Cane installment and another tour, Patton isn’t done exploring. His restless nature won’t allow for that. And like usual, he and Ipecac partner Greg Werckman have a full schedule of upcoming releases, including a soundtrack by Daniele Luppi and a new album by experimental-rock studio project The Books of Knots.
And after the possibility of even more tour dates from the reunited Faith No More, Patton’s commitments, to be finished in no particular order, include a film score for the adaptation of The Solitude of Prime Numbers, an electronic Fantômas album, another Tomahawk release, the Crudo collaboration with Dan the Automator, and another Moonchild disc with the Zorn crew.“
A whole stack of interesting stuff going on over there at Yoshi’s San Fran, including what appears to be three parts Bungle appearing on stage for the first time in almost a decade… Reconciliation? Reunion? Thank you Zorn!
“Native New Yorker and enfant terrible John Zorn has had very deep ties with San Francisco since his first visit here in 1974. His yearly visits have deepened his connection with local musicians and venues and many of his closest collaborators still live right here in the Bay Area.
This special three night series showcases him performing with many of San Francisco’s best musicians in improvisational units, and includes the world premiere performance of his popular tribute to the Bay area ALHAMBRA LOVE SONGS, his first ever duo concert with California’s Guru extraordinaire Terry Riley and of course his legendary game piece COBRA, featuring an all-star Bay Area lineup.”
