UPDATE 2: Ipecac now have official word on this:

“It has come to our attention that tickets are being sold for Mike Patton‘s Mondo Cane in Paris on February 19 & 20. Unfortunately these dates are not correct. Mike did not agree to these dates. If you bought tickets, please get a refund. We are working on getting the correct dates. (http://www.ipecac.com/news/426)”

Tickets have just gone on sale for two Mike Patton dates with Ochestre Nationale d’Ile de France. February 18th and 20th, 2010. The concerts will be held at Cité de la Musique and are expected to be the first Mondo Cane shows since the highly successful Amsterdam concert of 2008.

A double album of Mondo Cane (Mike Patton and The Metropole Orchestra) is expected for release in November this year, though a later date to coincide with the Paris shows, is likely.

Rock a Rolla recently revealed that Fantomas are currently working on their next album with a tentative release date of June next year, while the Mondo Cane album is looking at coming out March next year. All dates to be taken with a grain of salt obviously but good news about the new Fantomas……bring on some tours. Full news at rock-a-rolla.

It’s a crooning record but with an orchestra. Not many horns. And, I wouldn’t say very jazzy, but much more orchestral ballad stuff. Lots of singing. But it’s not in English. Summertime we hope.”

Mike Patton‘s Mondo Cane will be playing at the Holland Festival on the 12 June 2008 commencing at 20.30.

Massive Attack – Weather Underground – Possible June 2008 release

Mondo Cane – Italian 50′s & 60′s pop covers ftr Mike Patton, Aldo Sisillo and Roy Paci. Speculation on whether this is to be a live or studio recording but it’s rumoured to be a studio album.

The Crucible, the follow up to 2007′s Six Litanies for Heliogabalus and the next in John Zorn’s Moonchild/Astronome trio Mike Patton, Trevor Dunn & Joey Baron.

Tidbits from the synthersisradio audio interview:

• A Summer release for the Mondo Cane album
• Mike performs most of the stuff for the A Perfect Place OST. He brought in a couple of percussionists and a couple of horn players but most was done with his keyboard and samples

There is a great interview of Mike over at starpulse.com. He covers topics such as the release of his Italian pop project Mondo Cane which recently performed some concerts in Italy, the process of recording his vocal parts for the film I am Legend, and mentions that Meshuggah move him to tears.

He also mentions a new project with Dan the Automator and describes it as “Sort of a fucked up R&B record, for lack of a better term”.
Speaking of Meshuggah, they have just released their latest album, Obzen. It is brutal, go grab a copy.
