Dale Crover the Modern Drummer
“This is what we do for a living, and we’re fortunate enough to have a job that we like. It could be a lot worse. A job playing music—hey, that’s what I wanted to do when I was a kid. I feel fortunate.”

“We’re an eclectic band, an acquired taste! We’re not normal by any means – nothing normal about it. Normal to us is strange to everyone else. I’ve always felt like a weirdo and I don’t have a problem with that! Having said that, I live a pretty conservative lifestyle. I’ve been married for seventeen years to the same woman. I’m very devoted. I don’t drink”
Also a recent audio interview of Dale conducted by a New Zealand blogger ahead of the Soundwave can be found here.
Hattip to the boiled frog. He also supplied all the recent Club Spaceland setlists from the Melvins Jan residency on this post.
I’ll be at the Enmore show, anyone else headin there?
The melvins will be taking up residence at Club Spaceland, L.A every Friday in January and as part of it will be playing some special sets:
Friday 01.07.11: MELVINS – Melvins Set (COLOSSUS OF DESTINY) & LYSOL RECORD / EGGNOG RECORD

Due 2011 on Amphetamine Reptile Records:
“The pix on FB are just for the TEST PRESSINGS. The actual Brides vinyl is gonna be splatter color! They’ll all have a manufactured sleeve (designed by Mackie). Then we’re getting a bunch of artists lined up, and Mackie will be doing 100 letterpress prints of their art that will be affixed to the manufactured sleeves. There will be 10 different letterpress designs.
Don’t know how much they’ll be yet. The test pressings are hitting eBay to offset productions costs. Releasing ‘em in batches throughout 2011. Of course hardcore BOARDIES can get first pick on the mailorder allotments.”

Forgot to post this the other day when the line up leaked, but the Melvins will be making the trek down under next February to join the annual Australian music festival Soundwave, which hosted both Isis and Faith No More earlier this year.
Last time the Melvins were in Oz, Trevor Dunn filled in the bass duties. I’m guessing it will be the full entourage this time including the big biz boys, which should be interesting.
I’m hoping there will be Melvins solo shows as I really don’t want to have to go to soundwave
