Lombardo: Fantomas Door will Never Close
In a recent interview with Metal Injection, Dave Lombardo was asked whether he would ever rejoin Fantomas. Not only did he say that it will happen, but that he has also been in recent email contact with Mike:
“(5.26) I just emailed Mike Patton and we are in constant contact, that door will never close. I had so much fun working within the Fantomas music and its something I’ll never ever want to close. I’m sure in the future because he did mention hey we need to work together again. We’re both busy with Faith No More and me with slayer and it’s been like that for a while, but i see it coming.”
This is great news for us dedicated Fantomas obsessees as things were looking a little dire there for a while!
Slayer are on the brink of an Australian tour, and for one special Sydney show will be performing Reign in Blood in it’s entirety.

off track again guys
but i’ve read that pattons contribution to the ‘should i say new’ massive attack album has been shelved…wonder if anyone else has heard anything on this?

His involvement in the FNM reunion has side-lined a lot of projects. Oh well…

yeah!!! but he did this the same time as he did the whole peeping tom thing! bout 4 or so years ago….looks like massive attack have totally moved the goal posts and no longer want him on their album! pity cos i know he’s a big fan…but they’ve dragged their feet somewhat on realease date approx 4 years and have changed their minds as to whom or the sound they want on their album!!!!WHO KNOWS…but i for one has been looking forward to WEATHER UNDERGROUND for years,,,now i’m disappointed.

yeah apparently massive attack had recorded 2 albums worth of stuff with various guests but have since shelves things and more or less rerecorded the album. pity, apparently patton did about 3 tracks with them, tom waits had also contributed tracks. don’t quote me on this but i think damon albarn has been heavily involved in the rerecords so it could end up being something like gorillaz

Off topic again (or is it back on again) I am also most disappointed on the Massive Attack newsn. I was well looking forward to that. I love ‘Kill The DJ’ from the Peeping Tom album.
Think how spoiled some of us are as Patton fans, with his phenomenal work-rate and contant changing of the gears. Now contrast that with being a (massive) Massive Attack fan, where you are left waiting 4-5 years for one new album. Just say no to EXCESSIVE partaking of weed kids!

i think it’s worse if you’re a guns n roses fan ;p

Indeed Mindbait,
Any sad twat who remains a serious Gn’R fan to this day deserves to be treated like a pussy bitch by Axl. Still, they only have another 16 years and 12 guitarists to get through before the next platter!

never been in to massive attack at all, where should I start?
October 4th, 2009 at 10:19 pm
well though it may seem like an obvious one, the greatest hits is pretty cool and gives you a bit of an overview, plus the standard greatest hits “one new song to fuck off the people who own all our albums” is damned good!
other than that i guess start at the start with “blue lines”
October 5th, 2009 at 1:51 am
Yep, I would echo that. Either ‘Blue Lines’ as Mindbait suggests or my fave, ‘Mezzanine’.
I’m sure the new album will be great too with or unforunately without Patton. It should do, it’s only been 5 years or so in the making!

they’ve got a new ep out called splitting the atom! you can get it off soulseek easy enough..still gutted about pattons tracks getting side-lined tho…yeah mezzanine’s the one for me too.
