According to French journalist Zegu, Mike will be appearing on the 3rd album of the duo Soulsavers aka Brit production, Rich Machin and Ian Glover.

From Zegu’s blog (translated from French):

“Jason Pierce of Spiritualized and Mike Patton of Faith No More, Richard Hawley and Gibby Haynes of Butthole Surfers are on the 3rd album of the duo Soulsavers aka Brit production, Rich Machin and Ian Glover.
The main voice on ‘Broken’ has been made by the former member of Screaming Trees, Mark Lanegan, as on the previous album ‘It’s Not How Far You Fall, It’s The Way You Land’, released in 2007. Lanegan has co-written most of the album. Pierce sings duets with Lanegan on ‘Pharaoh’s Chariot’, and Hawley is also the voice on ‘Shadows Fall’. Patton participated in ‘Unbalanced Pieces’ and to Haynes’ Death Bells’.
The single, ‘Sunrise’, written by Lanegan and performed by Will Oldham, aka Bonnie Prince Billy, released before the album, with opposite B ‘Will You Miss Me When I Burn’, played by Lanegan”

This is fantastic news. I am a huge fan of Mark Lanegan and I loved his work on the last Soulsavers album. This should be mega.

Jeezo, is Gibby Haynes still alive? I thought he might have caught a ricochet of the bullet that killed Hunter S Thompson!

      Any idea on street date?

Just checked their myspace – August 17th ’09.

      Bring it on.

Thanks for the street date jim. I’ve never heard of these guys tbh. Will have to check them out. Yeah I’m a big fan of lanegan too. Should be good

I recently saw Mark Lanegan and Greg Dulli (aka The Gutter Twins) live in Glasgow. It was great to see ‘The Voice’ in such a small intimate venue but Greg Dulli is a complete dick. He was doing his best Axl Rose impression, threatening to end the gig because someone in the audience took a picture of him on their phone. The spirit of J-Lo and Mariah carey lives on!

‘The Voice’ is a legend. I love nearly everything he has done, from the Trees to qotsa and his solo stuff.

i have always loved lanegan mainly from screaming trees and his work with QOTSA but I have never fully pursued all his music (solo/collabs etc). I really need to remedy that…..

    • Jim Bowen (Mark's dad) Says:

I would highly recommend ‘Bubblegum’ and most especially the ‘Here Comes That Weird Chill (Methamphetamine Blues)’ extended E.P. Go get!

I really have to wonder how many collabs patton hooked up over the ATP weekend… is it a coincidence that soulsavers/lanegan happened to play at that festival organised by patton, at which gibby and the buttholes also performed and now they’re all on an album together?

    • gronk Says:

      not coincidence I’m sure :D
but i reckon it will be very interesting.
