According to Ipecac, Mike has recently written a “Futurist Noise Composition” but won’t actually be performing it. It will be performed by other musicians in two separate shows in  New York and San Fran.

The official statement:

“Now here is a cool show to check out. Mike Patton recently wrote a  musical piece for a futurist noise series that will be performed by  musicians and composers in both San Francisco and New York City.

The SF show is October 16th at MOMA/Yerba Buena http://www.sfmoma.org/events/1459

The New York show is November 12th at Town Hall

The list of musicians that composed the music is VERY impressive.  Check it out. Mike will NOT be performing.”

he will be back to his old form i guarantee it. i reckon everyone except mike is keen as mustard for the FNM reunion and think that it is back for good, whereas Mike is probably just riding it for a while for a buzz and some $$$.

i don’t know. i’m lucky to have seen him in a lot of his projects live. i’m thinking that he feels he’s getting older and needs to slow down and he’s found lucrative ways to stay home (soundtracks, video game work, and now composing for others) or at least not tour. still wondering if TOMAHAWK is dead and wish i could’ve caught him with RAHZEL or DILLINGER! as long as he’s still doing amazing, groundbreaking music and selling it, i’ll be buying. wish TOMAHAWK, FANTOMAS, and PEEPING TOM would’ve released dvds.

      Mr Penguin,

I agree with you about the DVD’s, I do wish that there was more good quality official merchandise available. There is of course the Mondo Cane stuff to come next year (fingers, legs & eyes crossed) and I am certain there will be an FNM reunion release of sorts to come as well.

BTW, there was a Fantomas (or the FsntomasMelvinsBigband) live DVD released a year or 2 ago. I’ve never really been able to get into it at all. I love the Fantomas (especially Director’s Cut) but have never quite ‘got’ the Melvins. I suppose they are an acquired taste, like smack or Kenyan vodka. What the fuck am I talking about?

Mr. Bowen, super lol! yeah, it took awhile for me to “get” the melvins, too. i seriously refer to it that way, incidentally! i borrowed like 3 of their cds from a friend and didn’t feel it at first, until ‘lysol’ of all albums. the big band dvd was pretty cool, kinda forgot about it. the whole back story about the guy approaching them and shooting it was intriguing, liked the visual effects – wish there were more. Kenyan vodka sounds like an oxymoron for some reason and humors me greatly. although if i was pitted against it, i would surely lose.
