Two New Mike Patton Interviews, a Load of News

gronk

There have been a couple of new Mike Patton interviews appearing here and there recently with lots of juicy new info, specifically on the future of Fantomas, Tomahawk and Faith No More. Check em out:

Metal Sucks

On Fantomas:

“I just need to write a new record for these guys. They’re just sitting around waiting for me. That’s the status. Very simple. I’ve just gotta, you know, do it. That’s (Fantomas) an important one to me. It’s close to my heart. I don’t wanna take it for granted.”

On Faith No More

“It just happened. I think it was a reconciliation of sorts. We’ve been offered to reform many, many times over the last ten years. At some point, we all realized, ‘Hey, what’s the problem here? Should we do this? Will the music stand up?’  That was a big question. So, we rehearsed to kinda figure out whether it would stand up or not. And it did. And here we are.”

On future Zorn Collaborations:

“Zorn’s written another Moonchild record that I gotta go out to New York and sing on it. In fact, I should be doing it right now.”

On Tomahawk:

“Yeah, yeah. But it’s not my project so… It’s Duane [Denison]’s project. He’s written a bunch of new tunes and he actually just sent me a CD the other day. It’s, like, acoustic guitar and metronome… We’re a long ways off, but yeah, I think there will be more music. Why not?”

The Skinny

On Mondo Cane:

“I knew I would interpret these pieces aggressively – but I didn’t want to murder them, because there has to be an element of respect there and to really just commit some kind of a crime in the name of nostalgia would not be cool… I wouldn’t sleep so well.”

On the future of Faith No More:

“I would venture a guess that this is going to be it, but hey – this is what our focus is now – once this is all over, maybe we’ll sit around, have a laugh and talk about the future. But right now I think it’s way too early to say.”

On future projects:

“I’m working on another score, for an Italian film which should be out later in the year. Mondo Cane is doing a tour in Europe in July, believe it or not, it’s a hell of a time to put it together but we’re going to be over there for around a month.”

Apparently this was Mike Patton back in his Eureka High days, you can already see the lovable monster in him waiting to come out.

glad to hear that tomahawk aren’t dead and buried and yeah i wondered too whether they’d get kev back into the bad. i also wonder where they’re gonna go with the music, i’m guessing the native american music was just a one-off but surely they don’t just want to repeat st/mit gas sound for a 3 album?

    • gronk Says:

well i thought the first and second albums were completely different. so hopefully it is more of the same in a unique way if ya know what i mean :D
