Mike Patton Mondo Cane Interview at Artist Direct
An excellent brand spanking new interview with Mike Patton on the Mondo Cane project has just been released over at Artist Direct. Some nice new pieces of info in it including:
The Mondo Cane album:
“Basically the Mondo Cane recordings were culled from our first three shows. They were all in Italy. Some very appreciated producers, editors and I chose different parts. Maybe for the record, we’d use one bar from the violins from concert one, and in the same piece of music, maybe we’d use the females in the choir from somewhere else. It was like a giant Rubiks Cube to find the best takes from three concerts out of all these different elements. Obviously, there was some studio trickery [Laughs]. It was fun.”
The Faith No More tour:
“To be honest, I never thought that I would ever revisit that stuff again. After some reflection and speaking with the guys, I realized, Well, wait a minute. I’m not embarrassed about it [Laughs]. It’s still good music! Is there a way that we can still pull it off and do it justice? So we rehearsed! When we rehearsed, I realized this is good and I feel great about it. After that, we decided to do some shows.”

The Mondo Cane facebook page has also posted a new album with loads of Mondo Cane live photos. Check it out here

The Album is absolute rubbish.
I’m extremely disappointed with the album and also extremely glad that I had a chance to saw it twice in Lugo and in Modena.
I’m not going to buy this CD and support this scoff.

Well, least it wasn’t something you have only heard off download. I’m a little surprised the album doesn’t measure up the same for you, i’ll have to wait and give it a listen myself

I think it’s awesome. Not cheesy or anything. I like what they did to it in the studio. It’s a different band/orchestra to the Amsterdam show so the songs sound a bit different at times. Both are essential listening IMHO
Just wish it was longer.
Btw I preordered the signed version from Newbury, but I’ve heard they are all sold out now.

i “pre-heard” the stuff on u-tube and was a bit suprised too. i mean, its short and something real different from the amsterdam-show. i’m not sure if i will go on listening my selfdistracted and cover-arted amsterdam-rip or my handsigned copy of the studio stuff. yeah, got one
