New Billy Gould Article/Interview at Consequence of Sound

gronk

And it’s a doozey! Nice work Karina icon smile New Billy Gould Article/Interview at Consequence of Sound

“(Having Chuck there) was weird,” he laughs. “Funny. Great. Soundcheck was great, we were laughing, he was just so out there. I grew up with him, way before FNM. He was like an older brother to me, and he saved me from listening to a lot of bad music. And when we got rid of Chuck, we were probably at the most opposite ends of the spectrum. So it was really great to come back as friends. And the music is a lot different with him in it, I really like it. It’s more simple, a little darker, a bit goth in a way. We were trying to get Jim to do it too but he didn’t want to do it. He thought about it for a couple of days and came back with a real big ‘No!’ Jim was all business, and sometimes the business isn’t the point.”

New Mike Patton Interview at AlarmPress

gronk

Nice big article on Mike over at alarmpress with a few updates on his current and future plans:

“Between the second Mondo Cane installment and another tour, Patton isn’t done exploring. His restless nature won’t allow for that. And like usual, he and Ipecac partner Greg Werckman have a full schedule of upcoming releases, including a soundtrack by Daniele Luppi and a new album by experimental-rock studio project The Books of Knots.

And after the possibility of even more tour dates from the reunited Faith No More, Patton’s commitments, to be finished in no particular order, include a film score for the adaptation of The Solitude of Prime Numbers, an electronic Fantômas album, another Tomahawk release, the Crudo collaboration with Dan the Automator, and another Moonchild disc with the Zorn crew.

Faith No More – Is this It?

gronk

The last song of the last show of the Second Coming…The Real Thing, back where they started way back in Brixton last year. Has the fat lady sung?

Apparently at last night’s Mondo Cane show Patton has said that it is a good possibility there will be a Faith No More show in Chile in December, so who knows?

There was certainly a note of finality from Roddy after he posted his thoughts on the lead up to and after the final show on his blog.

Two New Mike Patton Interviews, a Load of News

gronk

There have been a couple of new Mike Patton interviews appearing here and there recently with lots of juicy new info, specifically on the future of Fantomas, Tomahawk and Faith No More. Check em out:

Metal Sucks

On Fantomas:

“I just need to write a new record for these guys. They’re just sitting around waiting for me. That’s the status. Very simple. I’ve just gotta, you know, do it. That’s (Fantomas) an important one to me. It’s close to my heart. I don’t wanna take it for granted.”

On Faith No More

“It just happened. I think it was a reconciliation of sorts. We’ve been offered to reform many, many times over the last ten years. At some point, we all realized, ‘Hey, what’s the problem here? Should we do this? Will the music stand up?’  That was a big question. So, we rehearsed to kinda figure out whether it would stand up or not. And it did. And here we are.”

On future Zorn Collaborations:

“Zorn’s written another Moonchild record that I gotta go out to New York and sing on it. In fact, I should be doing it right now.”

On Tomahawk:

“Yeah, yeah. But it’s not my project so… It’s Duane [Denison]’s project. He’s written a bunch of new tunes and he actually just sent me a CD the other day. It’s, like, acoustic guitar and metronome… We’re a long ways off, but yeah, I think there will be more music. Why not?”

The Skinny

On Mondo Cane:

“I knew I would interpret these pieces aggressively – but I didn’t want to murder them, because there has to be an element of respect there and to really just commit some kind of a crime in the name of nostalgia would not be cool… I wouldn’t sleep so well.”

On the future of Faith No More:

“I would venture a guess that this is going to be it, but hey – this is what our focus is now – once this is all over, maybe we’ll sit around, have a laugh and talk about the future. But right now I think it’s way too early to say.”

On future projects:

“I’m working on another score, for an Italian film which should be out later in the year. Mondo Cane is doing a tour in Europe in July, believe it or not, it’s a hell of a time to put it together but we’re going to be over there for around a month.”
