The Melvins join the aussie Soundwave tour starting in Brisbane on Saturday the 26th of Feb. They also join Primus for a couple of solo shows in Sydney and Melbourne. This interview coincides with the aussie tour:
www.sludgefactory.com.au/soundwave-abuzz-melvins
“We’re an eclectic band, an acquired taste! We’re not normal by any means – nothing normal about it. Normal to us is strange to everyone else. I’ve always felt like a weirdo and I don’t have a problem with that! Having said that, I live a pretty conservative lifestyle. I’ve been married for seventeen years to the same woman. I’m very devoted. I don’t drink”
Also a recent audio interview of Dale conducted by a New Zealand blogger ahead of the Soundwave can be found here.
Hattip to the boiled frog. He also supplied all the recent Club Spaceland setlists from the Melvins Jan residency on this post.
I’ll be at the Enmore show, anyone else headin there?
New Trevor Dunn Interview at QRD
Mainly technical/bass questions:
“QRD – Do you see your bass as your ally or adversary in making music?
Trevor – I used to have this theory that our instruments were prisons for the song trapped inside & it was our duty to wrestle (practice) & overcome this cumbersome entombment. But now I think that’s kind of a dark analogy. I love my bass. Some of them have traveled the world with me & they are always there for me. Without that ally I would be nothing.
QRD – Who are the bassists that most influenced your playing & sound?
Trevor – Bobby Vega, Rusty Allen, Carol Kaye, Jaco Pastorius, Jerry Jemmont, Charlie Haden, Jimmy Garrison, Charles Mingus, Scott Lafaro.”

At last, it’s here! Ladies and gentlemen you’ve been asking for it, and here we have it! Presented to you by stubbadub, and our fellow FNM lovin’ sites FNM2.0 and the FNM FB French Community, the Faith No More Fan Interview, with all questions asked coming directly from YOU, the fans.
On behalf on everyone who worked to make this project a reality, I’d like to say thank you. To all the fans who submitted questions, we really appreciate the interest and support and I hope the lucky few of you whose answers were chosen are happy with the answers. Sorry we couldn’t ask more! But keep an eye on Consequence of Sound for more from Bill Gould.
So, on that note, here we have it, made by fans for fans: The Faith No More Fan Interview, 2010.
Bär McKinnon Interviewed by Music Vice
So we have a date
2020 is when Bungle return…..at least according to Bar’s tongue-in-cheek response to the question posed to him by Music Vice in a recent interview:
“Yes. Only after enough time has passed that we have become so senile that the memories of petty resentments and grudges have faded. We’re looking at 2020. Just saw Danny today in Sydney, and hope to somehow include him in future recordings.”
BTW I spoke to Bar backstage at the recent Sydney Umlaut show about his thoughts on an eventual Bungle reunion taking place and he is super keen for it to happen, so it still is possible but I wouldn’t be holding my breath for anything in the immediate future…..

New Mike Patton Triple J Interview
Triple J, an Australian ‘alt’ radio station this morning aired a recent interview with Mike Patton from his San Fran home.
Interesting points that came from the interview include:
- He is about to complete a film score for an italian movie called “The Solitude of Prime Numbers”
- The Nevermen project with doseone and TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe should be due at the end of the year. He describes the project as a ‘vocal trio’
- He has a new Fantomas album bubbling away in the back of his mind
- Duane Denison is hard at work writing music for the new Tomahawk album

New Buzz Osborne Interview at Metalsucks
Oh also Newbury Comics are selling signed pre orders of the new Melvins album, The Bride Screamed Murder

Mike Patton at The Quietus
Yet another excellent Mike Patton article has recently been released to the world. Now it’s the quietus’ turn:
“In a sense, baiting and teasing that audience became a part of his project, even a motivating factor. ‘I’ve certainly done things like that in the past,’ he says, ‘in some of the earlier bands – and it wasn’t just me! We would make musical choices like, oh yeah, this’ll really fuck ‘em up!’”

Hat-tip to JimT for the heads up.
Two New Mike Patton Interviews, a Load of News
There have been a couple of new Mike Patton interviews appearing here and there recently with lots of juicy new info, specifically on the future of Fantomas, Tomahawk and Faith No More. Check em out:
On Fantomas:
“I just need to write a new record for these guys. They’re just sitting around waiting for me. That’s the status. Very simple. I’ve just gotta, you know, do it. That’s (Fantomas) an important one to me. It’s close to my heart. I don’t wanna take it for granted.”
On Faith No More
“It just happened. I think it was a reconciliation of sorts. We’ve been offered to reform many, many times over the last ten years. At some point, we all realized, ‘Hey, what’s the problem here? Should we do this? Will the music stand up?’ That was a big question. So, we rehearsed to kinda figure out whether it would stand up or not. And it did. And here we are.”
On future Zorn Collaborations:
“Zorn’s written another Moonchild record that I gotta go out to New York and sing on it. In fact, I should be doing it right now.”
On Tomahawk:
“Yeah, yeah. But it’s not my project so… It’s Duane [Denison]’s project. He’s written a bunch of new tunes and he actually just sent me a CD the other day. It’s, like, acoustic guitar and metronome… We’re a long ways off, but yeah, I think there will be more music. Why not?”
On Mondo Cane:
“I knew I would interpret these pieces aggressively – but I didn’t want to murder them, because there has to be an element of respect there and to really just commit some kind of a crime in the name of nostalgia would not be cool… I wouldn’t sleep so well.”
On the future of Faith No More:
“I would venture a guess that this is going to be it, but hey – this is what our focus is now – once this is all over, maybe we’ll sit around, have a laugh and talk about the future. But right now I think it’s way too early to say.”
On future projects:
“I’m working on another score, for an Italian film which should be out later in the year. Mondo Cane is doing a tour in Europe in July, believe it or not, it’s a hell of a time to put it together but we’re going to be over there for around a month.”

Mike Patton Mondo Cane Interview at Artist Direct
An excellent brand spanking new interview with Mike Patton on the Mondo Cane project has just been released over at Artist Direct. Some nice new pieces of info in it including:
The Mondo Cane album:
“Basically the Mondo Cane recordings were culled from our first three shows. They were all in Italy. Some very appreciated producers, editors and I chose different parts. Maybe for the record, we’d use one bar from the violins from concert one, and in the same piece of music, maybe we’d use the females in the choir from somewhere else. It was like a giant Rubiks Cube to find the best takes from three concerts out of all these different elements. Obviously, there was some studio trickery [Laughs]. It was fun.”
The Faith No More tour:
“To be honest, I never thought that I would ever revisit that stuff again. After some reflection and speaking with the guys, I realized, Well, wait a minute. I’m not embarrassed about it [Laughs]. It’s still good music! Is there a way that we can still pull it off and do it justice? So we rehearsed! When we rehearsed, I realized this is good and I feel great about it. After that, we decided to do some shows.”
Check out the whole interview here
The Mondo Cane facebook page has also posted a new album with loads of Mondo Cane live photos. Check it out here
