this is blatantly nicked from the FNM fan blog here http://www.faithnomoreblog.com/#!/
“In a recent interview with mxdwn.com Eric San aka Kid Koala has given news of a new Lovage album, and also The Slew album:
We’ve heard rumors of a new Lovage album in the works. Is there any truth to that?
There is. The beats are done and my turntables are done, but that’s about it at this point. Mike [Patton] is still writing, hasn’t recorded anything yet. I couldn’t put an exact date on it. Sometimes it goes quickly, but if he’s busy sometimes it doesn’t. But soon, hopefully. I always thought it would be cool to drop it on Valentines Day.
Then you better get moving on it!
(Laughs) Yeah, we only have a few months. I should call him now, actually!
What about The Slew? New album in the works?
Yes also, we’re recording it. Mike is recording vocals. Right now we’re setting up the skeletons for the tracks. We’re going through it all and finding bits that we dig and cutting it to vinyl, reassembling so it has turntable flavor but with that heavy rock thing going on as well. It’s slated for next year.”
The much loved and very rare Lovage (music to make love to your old lady by) album featuring the talents of Jennifer Charles, Dan the Automator, Mike Patton and Kid Koala has just been reissued! The re-release is a two disc set with the instrumental version of the album included as the 2nd disc.
This is great news for fans who have found it exceedingly difficult to get their own copy of the album since the demise of the Automator’s 75Ark, and copies are seen on eBay for exorbitant amounts.
This also comes on the back of confirmation from Kid Koala in an interview with CoS last year that the much anticipated follow up has been recorded and is just waiting on vocals from Mike and Jennifer.
So lots of goss is making the rounds after the recent Faith No More shows in L.A. Mindbait has some insight in to the state of Fantomas as heard from ‘the Gerg’ Werkman and also rock photographer slash CoS writer @wanderlustingkh recently tweeted some interesting titbits as heard backstage from Mr Dave Lombardo:
“Fantomas isn’t tracked. Lovage is. Dave still has to do drums. Dave said the ‘electronic’ part of the next album is that he’ll play and Patton will dub over with an electronic drum kit… he said Patton’s working on the theme, I think a lot has been recorded from the other dudes… And there you have it folks – that’s your Fantomas scoop straight from the mouth of the world’s best drummer Dave Lombardo.”
In a recent interview over at Consequence of Sound, Kid Koala has confirmed that the next Lovage album, the follow up to 2001′s Music to Make Love to your old Lady by, has been recorded and is only waiting on Jennifer (Charles) and Mike Patton to finish it off:
“The Lovage music is done for the most part but we’re just waiting for Mike and Jennifer to get together and write again. But I had so much fun on that tour. I hope they finish it soon (laughs). Dan the Automator is part of it as well, of course. But I haven’t heard any new Peeping Tom stuff yet.”
