A Bungleoid Trey Spruance Interview

A long read. Hope you’ve got some time:

“I hope what will happen is that everyone will grow out of projecting decayed, crypto-Christian apocalyptic concepts onto other cultures, and inventing comic-book scenarios out of the silent mouths of extinct ancients who are not around to tell all these white people how stupid they are being, and how wrongly they have interpreted everything (according mostly to their fantasies, dim echoes from becoming unglued from their own Traditions)”

Trey makes some great music, but damn his pretentious.

    • Jim Bowen Says:

Utterly fascinating stuff as usual from Trey.

However, away from all the thought-provoking talk about Eastern / Western values, Mysticism, Gnostic studies, Philip K Dick, the commercial corporalisation of the human psyche and soul and the re-defining purpose of human life, etc., I bet there is nothing he likes more than to play air guitar in front of the mirror to his fave Slayer albums every night!

Hahaha yeah maybe Jimmy :) long time no see mate, where ya been?

    • Jim Bowen Says:

Just been occasionally lurking on these pages Gronk without really contributing my nonsense! I’m loving the Mondo Cane album right now. I never saw it live so I have nothing to compare it to unlike some of its critics who perhaps thought it didn’t translate to disc very well. Any news of the DVD release yet?

I recently saw Mark Lanegan do an acoustic set in Glasgow. Needless to say there was no moshpit or pogoing there just Lanegan’s whisky & velvet tones accompanied by a lone guitarist, doing songs from Screaming Trees, Qotsa, Gutter Twins, Soulsavers and of course his own solo material.

How’s tricks with yourself? You’ve obviously been busy with all the Umlaut activity and the bombshell over Isis.

All Trey Spruance interviews I’ve come across are longcuz the guy has a lot to say and the interviewers seem interested in what he’s got to say. The guy’s so learned that while I love reading the interviews, I get a headache. :P

ha ha i think that’s in relation to the first post about trey being pretnetious.

nice to see that he’s a fan of PKD but it’s a pity that after all these years of keeping up hope he’s finally stopped talking about hoping for a bungle reunion :(
